The Second Edition of FE Healthcare Summit will be inaugurated by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare of India.
In recent years, India’s pharma sector has undoubtedly achieved new strides. According to reports, the country’s pharma industry is currently valued at $50 Billion. Also known as the “Pharmacy of the World”, India is a major exporter of Pharmaceuticals, with over 200 countries served by Indian pharma exports. India supplies over 50 percent of Africa’s requirement for generics, approximately 40 percent of generic demand in the US, and approximately 25 percent of all medicine in the UK.
The country also accounts for approximately 60 percent of global vaccine demand and is a leading supplier of DPT, BCG, and Measles vaccines. Moreover, 70 percent of WHO’s vaccines (as per the essential Immunization schedule) are sourced from India.
India is in a crucial position currently. At a time, when global companies are looking at a China + 1 strategy to spur their research and innovation efforts, there is a need to create a groundswell of innovation and bring in policies to put the country on the global innovation map.
The second edition of FE Healthcare Summit which will be held on 30th September 2022 at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, will focus on the past, present, and future of the Indian Pharmaceutical sector and in what way the regulatory landscape needs to change.
One of the sessions of the FE Healthcare Summit 2022, “Breakthrough Innovations: The Next Frontier for Indian Pharma” will highlight the role of the Indian regulatory system needs to be redefined and strengthened to take it to a global level, either through memberships to (PIC) Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme and (ICH) International Council on Harmonisation, where China is moving ahead.
